RIVERSIDE, CA…
Saturday, March 20th, 2010

On Saturday, March 20th, Indigoverse & Adellacosplay got together to conduct a session for the Princess Aurora shoot in downtown Riverside.
Our wonderful model for the day was Sarah’s sister, Leah Quillian (who is a doll and a real awesome gal I might add) and helping with makeup, lighting and video is the amazing JoEllen! =D
Our day started off at the city of Riverside’s very own ‘Mission Inn’
Unfortunately, the Mission Inn is very irresponsible about who answers the phone in the name of P.R. & Marketing which resulted in getting a green light to shoot, but then quickly became a red light when we arrived for the shoot. As usual, we salvaged the shoot and even added the Sakura Cherry Blossoms at Balboa Park as a second location.
“Behind the Scenes of the Princess Aurora Shoot 2010″
As mentioned before, we could not shoot inside the Mission Inn, so we shoved off along the outside of the place where we found a few really nice spots. We ran a few shots here and there as we progressed up and down the block =)
The lighting was really nice in the shade that day, it was a tad warm, but not bad enough to get Leah(Princess Aurora) all sweaty ;P

“Sarah was a huge help with the video capture while I moved around to get the shots I needed.”
After running out of places to get interesting shots, Jo suggested that we move the shoot across the street to see what we could find. She spotted a small chapel that had a sign to keep off the property, but we just shot real fast there despite the fact, besides… we were just taking photos anyhow.
The lawn and the garden area were a nice backdrop for the next series of shots…

“It took a little fixing up, but we got the dress to behave for these shots” =)

“Well, it behaved sometimes…”
We eventually had to move cause the sun was hot and the grass was wet…lol,
Jo had spotted another great place on the other side of that very same chapel.
When she came back to tell us about it, we hit the street corner where Leah encountered some
Princess Aurora fans =D

The new locations had some great angles, but it was dark and we were losing the ability to bounce light very quickly.

“The final shot was worth it, Jo had just manipulated the light enough on the reflector so that it was overpowered by the remaining sunlight that spilled over from the structure behind.” =D
Our last destination for Riverside was another very large building across the street. We saddled up and hit the walkway again.
“On the move again….”
This spot was very cool and offered us a great place to shoot with all the old architecture that we needed for a perfect backdrop.

The day was in the afternoon phase already and we still had to travel to Van Nuys for a final shoot at the Sakura Blossoms so we packed it up and headed to the cars.
We were on our way out when we decided ‘Fuggit!’ and snuck inside the Mission Inn Rotunda for a sneaky shot or two… (Unfortunately, as Leah ascended the staircase from shadow to sunlight and in all the excitement of trying not to get busted by the Inn’s security, I forgot to adjust the shutter to accommodate for the bright light) This was one of the shots I managed to salvage.
When we finally called it a wrap for the Riverside portion of this shoot, we made our way to Van Nuys and hit the worst traffic ever. The entire 57FWY was shut down at the point where the 10 & 71 junction!….”Lame!”
Anyhoo, after a typical 45 minute drive turned into 2 hours, we were really pressed for time and so we got Leah suited up at Sarah’s place, but then we all locked ourselves out our cars and apartments @__@
As if we all ‘HAD’ to be delayed any further, plus Leah had a hot date for that evening =D
When we got everything sorted out, we hit Balboa Park for the last shots of the days… ^_^

As 5pm rolled in, we called the entire shoot a wrap and departed for dinner and relaxation.
Overall it was a hectic day, but very much worth all the inconveniences =)
Well boy and girls, that’s it for this blog, and we’ll see you on the next one soon!
“Cheers!”

Thank you Glitter!!! ^_^
Hi there! If you don’t mind me asking where did you get your Aurora crown? Also have you shot any other princesses? I would love to see your other work if so! Beautiful job!!1 Where are you from?
Hi Charlyn.
THank you so much for the kind words =)
I have shot many fantasy type photos, this was the only princess theme I have done to date. As for the crown, you’ll have to ask my friend Sarah (www.adellacosplay.com), she’s the designer and make of the costume. I am currently living in San Luis Obispo, CA.
“Cheers!”
